A scenic ferry ride, or short floatplane flight away, is Salt Spring Island, BC’s largest Gulf Island, renowned for its organic produce and easy-going lifestyle. Hastings House Country House Hotel waits, perched on the water’s edge overlooking Ganges Harbour. Hastings House spoils guest with two nights in a charming bed sitting room, with fireplace and ensuite bathroom, king or queen bed and country antiques. The day starts with a continental wake-up hamper at your door each morning. The Ruckle picnic is the perfect accompaniment to a hike, bike ride or a drive around Salt Spring to explore this seductive Gulf Island. Chef Marcel Kauer will create a four-course chef’s dinner for two one evening, inspired by the seasonal harvest from the Hastings House Kitchen gardens.
Visitors may opt to begin their Town & Country Gourmet Retreat in Vancouver, or Salt Spring Island. Rates for the tree-night package range from $854 CAD per person in spring and fall (March 14 – May 31, and Oct 1 – Nov 9, 2008), to $969 CAD per person in summer, (June 1 – Sept 30), based on double occupancy and include gratuities. Applicable taxes are excluded. For an upgrade to a suite at both properties expect to pay $1004 per person (spring and fall) and $1154 per person (summer).
