PHILIP MEYER, General Manager

Born in England, Philip started his career at The Mermaid Hotel,
an old smugglers inn in Rye East Sussex, England. After three
years in hotel management training, Philip joined the QE2 Luxury
Cruise Liner and spent the next three years cruising the world
working in one of the Queen Elizabeth's finest dining rooms.
Upon
completion of his travels, Philip landed back in England and joined
the prestigious Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells,
Kent, as Assistant Manager.
Three
years completed there and Philip moved to East Sussex to become
part of the management team at Horsted Place Hotel
and the East Sussex National Golf & Country Club.
Horsted Place is consistently voted in the top ten Country House
Hotels in Britain and is a favourite for opera goers at the famous
Glyndebourne Opera Festival.
During
his time at Horsted Place, Philip was introduced to the owners
of Sherwood Inn, a double Four Diamond country
inn set on Lake Joseph in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada and was offered
the opportunity to become General Manager of the Inn. Philip has now been presiding over one of the finest teams as General Manager of this Vancouver Luxury Hotel, the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa, since 1998.
Outside
of his workplace one of his other passions is Cycling, from an
early age growing up in England Philip would travel all over Europe
to watch many a professional cycle race including an annual trip
to the Tour De France. His racing in Europe was as a Junior before
embarking on his career in the luxury hotel industry.
The
Wedgewood Hotel is the title sponsor of the Wedgewood Cycling Team, which rides in support of the BC Cancer Foundation.
During
the cycling season Philip can be found escorting guests of the
