I have but one complaint:

Don’t bring American money. Last night, April 3, 2013, my wife and I stopped by for an after-movie drink, and tried to pay with a $100 American bill. The waitress did, hesitate taking it, advising us that the exchange rate the hotel offers wouldn’t be that great, although she couldn’t tell us even roughly what it would be. As the US dollar was worth $1.01 to the Canadian dollar, I thought, “well, what they hay, what’s a couple of points?”, and gave it to her to pay the bill.

To my shock, she came back with (after exchanging it with the front desk) with only $91.00 Canadian.

I know it may seem petty to complain, but I think that kind of gouging is over-the-top. I am certainly willing to pay a premium for the wonderful setting that is Bachus, and the excellent bartending, but I just don’t like to be gouged.

I have also stayed there numerous times with my husband for special occasions. The location is perfect for strolling around the city on foot, the rooms are luxurious with a European feel and the staff are top notch. The restaurant, Bachus, is fabulous too and I even saw Betty White when I last stayed there who was also a guest at the hotel. I would highly recommend the Wedgewood to anyone that appreciates great taste in their surroundings and high expectations of professional and friendly service in the hub of Vancouver. Patti Gudewill
